Last Tango in Paris Was Not Just Art: An Open Letter to My Molester

Disruptive Mama

kim-young Me at about the age my dad molested me.

Dear Dad,

Somebody put two and two together and realized that the rape scene from the movie Last Tango in Paris was non-consensual. Though the director, Bernardo Bertolucci, revealed this in a 2013 interview, it has taken three years for people to get upset about it. Nine years if you count from 2007 when actress Maria Schneider said of it, “I felt humiliated and to be honest, I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci.”

It’s the scene with the butter. I know it because I watched the movie when I was 12. You showed it to me along with several of your adult friends who came over for the screening. None of them brought their children, though.

As far as I remember, it was one of many graphic sex scenes between 43-year-old Brando and 19-year-old Schneider.

How to Heal a Broken Bone Better Than Your Doctor Even Thought Possible

November 21, 2009

Things You’ll Need:

* a juicer (STILL only a $70 dollar investment in your health; i paid $80 in 1996!!)
* organic carrots
* organic apples
* organic spinach
* organic lemon (optional)
* organic ginger root (optional)
* organic parsley (optional)
* a knife
* a cutting board
Step 1
Juicer and produce, ready to go

Set your juicer up on the counter and plug it in. Set up your cutting board, grab your knife, and get your produce out of the fridge and have it handy.
Step 2

Produce to be juiced takes minimal preparation. You don’t need to remove the skin, or seeds; you must only chop it up into juicing-sized pieces. The apples should be sliced in half and then each half cut in at least four more slices, more for larger apples. For lemons (optional), I simply cut off the pointy ends and discard them, then slice them in half, and then cut four more wedges out of each half. Both the spinach and optional parsley may be pushed thru in small bunches, usually with a carrot or apple slice. The optional ginger can go in in small pieces. The thicker carrots should be sliced lengthwise and then chunked into 3 inch sections. Very skinny carrots are fine in the 3 inch sections.

Step 3

For one 16 oz glass of juice (approximately due to varying sizes of produce) use 6 carrots, 4 apples, and 2 handfuls of spinach. If you choose to use the optional ingredients to enhance the flavor and nutrition, use a chunk of ginger the size of the tip of your thumb, 1 lemon, and half a handful of parsley.
Step 4

Now that you have prepared your produce, it is time to turn on your juicer. Use the plunger to gently but firmly push the pieces you have prepared into the juicer– make sure you have placed a glass under the spout where the juice comes out 🙂 I usually alternate between types of produce; it gives the juicer a break when you alternate textures it must process.

Step 5

Now that you have a full glass of greenish-looking juice (due to the spinach), you must simply convince yourself or your child to drink it. If you have NEVER drunk fresh juice before, you might NOT know that carrot and apple is one of the MOST delicious combinations EVER!! This is GREAT news for the person with a broken bone:)

Step 6

The patient with the broken bone should drink a 16 oz glass of juice 3 times a day, or at least 2 times!! This is how i got such spectacular results with my daughter. She was only 18 months old, but i basically poured it down her throat, nicely 😉 Drink this recipe from the time you are injured until the time at which your cast gets removed– your doctor will be amazed!! But don’t be surprised if he or she looks at you as if you were from outer space if/when you try to explain to them how you obtained these exceptional results…

Tips & Warnings

Carrot juice is practically “AMBROSIA”, due to it’s marvelous sweetness. Especially with the addition of the apple, the sweetness of these two ingredients will completely overcome the taste of the spinach, the greenness of which may intimidate the uninitiated.
The addition of the optional ingredients will only enhance the flavor and nutrition– ginger and lemon add a nice little tangy ZING, and parsley has a nice detoxifying effect.
Experiment until you find the combination which suits YOUR tastes.
All of these ingredients are only FOOD, and NOT medicine, BUT spinach is high in oxalic acid, and therefore people who are aware that they suffer from kidney stones should not consume it. There are other juice combinations to address THIS problem, which i will cover in another article 🙂

How to Chase Away Sore Throat, Cold and Flu Germs

November 20, 2009

the moment you feel a sore throat coming on, the moment you feel that you are ‘coming down with something’, you may use this recipe to start killing any invading germs immediately. i have banished many a sore throat INSTANTANEOUSLY and sent many a cold and flu packing in a day’s time by eating my “panacea”.

Things You’ll Need:

* organic sprouted grain bread
* habaneros or hot peppers of choice (FRESHLY grated ginger will suffice if you ABSOLUTELY cannot tolerate hot peppers)preferably organic
* organic garlic
* organic hummus, or organic butter
* cutting board
* knife
* garlic press, or a grater will do

Step 1

You may make this recipe with one or two pieces of bread, toasted or untoasted according to your preference. For those of you who are not hardcore regarding hot pepper and/or garlic consumption, i highly recommend two pieces of bread. The bread slices and the hummus or butter will do a GREAT job of masking the strong flavors of the peppers and garlic, for those of you who are concerned about being able to tolerate the taste. Coat the bread with with a thin layer of hummus, or a very thick layer of butter.
Step 2

Always handle hot peppers of ANY type with care!! Gloves are recommended, but if you are careful, washing your hands thoroughly after touching the pepper flesh minimally, and NEVER touching your eyes/nose/face/etc. during this process can be adequate, though. One habanero is sufficient; i would go with two if using jalapenos. Slice the pepper on your cutting board into small strips or pieces; nothing fancy~ this isn’t rocket science 😉 Add the pepper on top of your hummus or butter. If you are aware that hot peppers constitutionally absolutely DON’T agree with your digestive system, organic raw fresh ginger root, grated, may be substituted. If you are merely SHY, though, i encourage you to try the peppers; they will work the best!
Step 3

Remove the outer skin of three large cloves of garlic (or 5-6 smaller ones). Depending on the kitchen aids you have available, you may slice/dice the garlic, or grate it. I have a garlic press, and i press the garlic right over the bread, gently spreading it around after it lands on the bread. However you have processed the garlic, add it to the sandwich.
Step 4

It is too difficult to top the peppers and garlic with more butter, hence my instructions to spread it thickly. But to mask the intensity of the peppers and garlic, when i use hummus, after adding the peppers and garlic, i add another THICK layer of hummus on top. I like Bobbi’s Jalapeno Hummus, or Tribe Organic Garlic Lover’s Hummus. Choose a brand/flavor that you like:)
Step 5

Top your sandwich with the second piece of bread, and enjoy, chewing thoroughly. Make sure to drink some water or hot tea to wash it all down. Ginger tea or spiced chai are excellent digestives for this potent sandwich.
Step 6

Make and consume this recipe as a meal at the onset of symptoms. A sore throat will usually disappear immediately. repeat until you feel better; EXCEPT if you come down with a fever in case of the flu, you should stop all food ingestion, drink nothing but fluids (water and healing teas), and get bed rest until your fever breaks.

Tips & Warnings

Even if hot peppers or garlic, especially raw, are not your usual fare, many folks have found the flavor to be to their liking, surprisingly enough, and have gone on to look forward to eating this recipe on a regular basis.
My very best advice to ensure optimal digestion is to brew a very strong ginger or “digestive” tea, and drink one cup before the sandwich and another cup after. I highly recommend the brands Yogi Tea, and Traditional Medicinals.
Helpful supplements which are useful adjuncts to this food therapy, if you can acquire them or have them available to boost your immune system, include Vitamin D3, 2000 IU; selenium in the form of L-selenomethionine, and Vitamin C, 1000 mg minimum– Nobel Prize-winning researcher Linus Pauling proved that most people can tolerate up to 19,000 mg, especially when they are ill. The worst consesquence of reaching your Vitamin C tolerance is a bout of diarrhea.
If you have any serious digestive issues such as IBS or Crohn’s, this COULD very well be irritating for you and you should consult your doctor before trying this, even though the ingredients are nothing but FOOD, and NOT medicine.
If you have any other digestive issues such as chronic heartburn or acid reflux, you may find that this does not agree with you, so eat a small portion, proceeding with caution, and see how you feel after 5-10 minutes. If you are still comfortable, finish the sandwich.
Raw garlic and raw hot peppers may cause a degree of nausea; everyone is different. If this is your first time eating a significant amount of raw garlic and peppers, I HIGHLY recommend brewing a strong ginger or “digestive” tea, and drinking one cup before the sandwich and another cup after. I highly recommend the brands Yogi Tea, and Traditional Medicinals.
